Straight leg pants in brushed back jersey, with a covered elastic waist and two side pockets.
Most soft trousers give themselves away at the waist: a visible drawcord, a gathered band, something that says the garment was designed to be comfortable first. A covered elastic waist does the same job and says nothing.
Why these jersey pants?
- Covered elastic waist: the elastic runs inside a flat band with no drawcord and no gathering, so the front reads as a plain waistband.
- Straight leg: cut with the same width from the knee down, which keeps the shape closer to a trouser than to a jogger.
- Brushed back: the reverse is raised and the face left smooth, so the softness is against the skin and the outside stays flat.
- Side seam pockets: set into the seam rather than patched on, so nothing breaks the line of the hip.
- Plain hem: finished flat instead of cuffed, so the leg falls over the shoe.
